Ford Fiesta WS Remote Programming Procedure (2008–2011)

Posted on:

If you own a Ford Fiesta WS (2008–2011) and need to program a replacement or spare remote, this guide will show you the step-by-step process. The Fiesta WS supports manual programming for remotes (not transponder immobiliser chips), making it possible to add new remotes without specialist tools.

✅ What You’ll Need

  • Your Ford Fiesta WS (2008–2011)
  • All existing remotes (they must be reprogrammed during the same session)
  • The new remote you want to add
  • About 5 minutes of time

🔑 Step-by-Step: How to Program a Fiesta WS Remote

  1. Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed.
  2. Insert your key into the ignition.
  3. Turn ignition from OFF (0) → ON (II) four times within 6 seconds.
    • End with the ignition in the OFF (0) position.
    • If done correctly, you’ll hear a chime or see the door locks cycle. This means the car is in programming mode.
  4. Press any button on the first remote you want to program.
    • The locks will cycle again to confirm programming.
  5. Repeat Step 4 for any additional remotes (including existing ones).
    • Important: all remotes must be programmed during the same session.
  6. Turn ignition back to ON (II) to exit programming mode.
  7. Test each remote to make sure they lock/unlock the doors.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

  • No chime or lock cycle?

    • You may not have cycled the ignition fast enough. Start again.
  • Only one remote works after programming?

    • All remotes must be reprogrammed in the same session; otherwise, only the last one will be stored.
  • Remote still doesn’t function?

    • The remote may be the wrong frequency for Fiesta WS models. Always check part number and compatibility before attempting.

💡 When DIY Won’t Work

This procedure only works for remote central locking functions.
If your transponder/immobiliser chip in the key isn’t recognised, you’ll need specialist diagnostic tools.

❓ FAQ

Q: Does this program the immobiliser chip too?
A: No. This method only programs the remote locking/unlocking. The transponder chip still requires specialist programming.

Q: Can I add more than one remote?
A: Yes. Up to four remotes can be paired in one session.

Q: What if all keys are lost?
A: DIY programming will not work. You’ll need a locksmith with diagnostic equipment.
