🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedures – Mazda 2 DY & DE
This guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Mazda 2 models that support DIY programming.
⚠️ Important:
These procedures program remote lock/unlock functions only.
They do NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If the vehicle will not start after programming, diagnostic immobiliser programming is required.
Mazda 2 DY
2002–2007 🔐 Manual Remote Programming Procedure
This procedure applies to Mazda 2 DY models.
Programming Steps
- Open the driver’s door.
- If fitted, lock and unlock the doors using the central locking switch in the centre console.
⚠️ All doors must remain unlocked.
If the vehicle does not have a central locking switch, skip this step. - Turn the ignition ON → OFF quickly 3 times, finishing with the key in the OFF position.
Leave the key in the ignition. - Close and open the driver’s door 3 times, leaving the door open on the 3rd time.
🔒 Doors will lock and unlock — programming mode is active. - Within 20 seconds, press the LOCK button twice on the existing remote.
🔒 Doors should respond. - Press the LOCK button twice on the new remote to be programmed.
🔒 Doors should respond again. - Remove the key from the ignition to exit programming mode.
- Test all remotes.
⚠️ If programming fails:
- Confirm the correct remote part number
- Wait 2 minutes before attempting the procedure again
Mazda 2 DE
2007–2014 🔐 Manual Remote Programming Procedure
The Mazda 2 DE (2007–2014) uses the same manual procedure as the DY model.
Follow Steps 1–8 exactly as listed above.
⚠️ Common Reasons Mazda 2 Programming Fails
- Incorrect remote frequency or part number
- Weak or flat remote battery
- Central locking switch not registering
- Door timing steps not followed precisely
- Immobiliser/transponder issue
If the remote programs correctly but the engine does not start, immobiliser programming is required.
