🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedures – Mazda 3 BK & BL
This guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Mazda 3 models that support DIY programming.
⚠️ Important:
These procedures program remote lock/unlock functions only.
They do NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If the vehicle will not start after programming, diagnostic immobiliser programming is required.

✅ All Mazda 3 BK (Series 1 & 2) and BL models use the SAME procedure below.
🔐 Mazda 3 Manual Remote Programming Procedure
- REMOVE the key from the ignition.
- CLOSE all doors and the boot/trunk.
- OPEN the driver’s door.
- INSERT the key into the ignition, then switch ON → LOCK 3 times.
- Leave the key in the ignition.
- CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door 3 times, then leave the door OPEN.
- 🔒 The door locks should LOCK then UNLOCK to confirm programming mode.
- PRESS the UNLOCK button twice on the first remote.
- 🔒 The door locks will LOCK → UNLOCK to confirm programming.
- Repeat Steps 8–9 for any additional remotes.
- Remove the key and test all remotes.
⚠️ Common Reasons Mazda 3 Programming Fails
- Incorrect remote frequency or part number
- Weak or flat remote battery
- Timing steps not followed exactly
- Door switch not registering
- Immobiliser/transponder issue
If the remote works but the engine will not start, immobiliser programming is required.
Mazda 3 2014+ ⚠️ Diagnostic Programming Required
For 2014 and newer Mazda 3 models, remote and key programming is completed using OBD diagnostic equipment only.
🚫 Manual remote programming is not supported on newer models.
