🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedures – Mazda 6 (GG / GY / GH)
This guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Mazda 6 models that support DIY remote programming.
⚠️ Important:
These procedures program remote lock/unlock only.
They do NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If the vehicle will not start with a new key, diagnostic immobiliser programming is required.

✅ All Mazda 6 GG / GY / GH models listed above use the SAME procedure below.
🔐 Mazda 6 Manual Remote Programming Procedure
- REMOVE the key from the ignition.
- CLOSE all doors and the boot/trunk.
- OPEN the driver’s door.
- INSERT the key into the ignition, then switch ignition ON → LOCK 3 times.
Leave the key in the ignition. - CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door 3 times, then leave the door OPEN.
- 🔒 The door locks should LOCK then UNLOCK to confirm programming mode.
- PRESS the UNLOCK button twice on the first remote transmitter.
- 🔒 The door locks should cycle LOCK → UNLOCK to confirm programming.
- Repeat Steps 7–8 for any additional remotes.
- Check all remotes for operation.
⚠️ Mazda 6 Programming Rules (Very Important)
- A maximum of 3 remote transmitters can be programmed.
- Programming mode terminates after 3 transmitters are programmed.
- If you only have one remote, you can program the same remote 2–3 times to fill all memory slots.
- Only press the UNLOCK button during programming.
- If a button other than UNLOCK is pressed, programming can be cancelled.
- Make sure no other transmitters are being operated nearby while programming.
⚠️ Common Reasons Mazda 6 Remote Programming Fails
- Incorrect remote frequency or part number
- Weak or flat remote battery
- Door switch not registering correctly
- Timing steps not followed precisely
- A nearby remote is being pressed (interference)
If the remote works but the vehicle does not start, immobiliser programming is required.
Mazda 6 2013+ ⚠️ Diagnostic Programming Required
For newer Mazda 6 models (commonly 2013 onwards), remote and key programming is typically completed using OBD diagnostic equipment.
🚫 Manual remote programming is generally not supported on newer smart-key systems.
