🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedures – Mazda BT-50
This guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Mazda BT-50 models that support DIY programming.
⚠️ Important:
These procedures program remote lock/unlock only.
They do NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If the engine will not start, diagnostic immobiliser programming is required.

2006–2011 🔐 Manual Remote Programming Procedure
This procedure applies to early Mazda BT-50 models fitted with manual remote programming capability.
Programming Steps
- Remove the key from the ignition.
- Close all doors and the tailgate.
- Open the driver’s door.
- Insert the key into the ignition, then turn ON → LOCK 3 times, finishing in LOCK.
- Leave the key in the ignition.
- Close and open the driver’s door 3 times, then leave the door OPEN.
- 🔒 Door locks will LOCK then UNLOCK to confirm programming mode.
- Press the UNLOCK button twice on the first remote.
🔒 Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. - Repeat Step 8 for any additional remotes.
- Remove the key to exit programming mode.
- Test all remotes.

2011+ ⚠️ Diagnostic Programming Required
For 2011 and newer Mazda BT-50 models:
🚫 Manual remote programming is not supported.
All remotes and keys must be programmed using OBD diagnostic equipment.
This includes:
- Remote keys
- Immobiliser/transponder chips
- All keys lost situations
⚠️ Common Reasons BT-50 Programming Fails
- Incorrect remote frequency or part number
- Weak or flat remote battery
- Door switch not registering correctly
- Timing steps not followed exactly
- Immobiliser system faults
If the remote works but the vehicle does not start, immobiliser programming is required.
