This step-by-step guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Suzuki Baleno models from 1999 to 2001.

This procedure programs remote lock/unlock functions only.
It does NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If the vehicle will not start after programming, diagnostic immobiliser programming will be required.

- Maximum 2 remotes can be programmed
- Follow the timing carefully β delays can cause the procedure to fail
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Confirm all doors are closed and the ignition key is OUT.
- Open the driverβs door.
- Insert the key and switch the ignition ON within 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition OFF within 10 seconds.
- Within 20 seconds, press and release the driverβs door contact switch 3 times
(the door switch is the plunger/button in the door frame). - Within 10 seconds, switch the ignition ON.
- Then turn the ignition OFF within 10 seconds.
- Within 20 seconds, press and HOLD both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote for more than 5 seconds.
π The doors will lock and unlock to confirm entry into programming mode. - Within 5 seconds, press LOCK or UNLOCK on the remote.
π The doors will lock and unlock again to confirm the remote has been stored. - To program another remote, repeat the entire procedure from Step 1.
β οΈ Common Reasons Programming Fails
If the procedure does not work, check for:
- Incorrect remote frequency or part number
- Weak or flat remote battery
- Door contact switch not registering presses
- Timing not followed precisely
- Immobiliser/transponder fault (remote works but engine wonβt start)
If the vehicle never confirms with door lock cycles, diagnostic programming will be required.
2016+ Suzuki Baleno β οΈ Diagnostic Programming Required
For 2016 and newer Suzuki Baleno models, remote and key programming is performed via OBD diagnostic equipment.
