🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedures by Year – Suzuki Grand Vitara

This guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Suzuki Grand Vitara models across multiple year ranges.

⚠️ Important:
These procedures program remote lock/unlock only.
They do NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip.
If your vehicle will not start after programming, diagnostic immobiliser programming is required.

⚠️ Some early Grand Vitara models (notably early JLX variants) were not fitted with remote locking at all.

Manual Programming Procedure

1. Ensure ignition is OFF and all doors are closed.
2. Within 10 seconds, open the driver’s door and switch ignition ON.
3. Within 10 seconds, switch ignition OFF.
4. Within 20 seconds, press and release the driver’s door contact switch 3 times.
5. Within 10 seconds, switch ignition ON then OFF.
6. Within 20 seconds, press and hold both remote buttons (one at a time) for at least 5 seconds.
   • Driver’s door will lock and unlock once.
7. Within 5 seconds, press LOCK or UNLOCK on the remote.
8. Programming is complete.
9. Test remote locking.

2003–2005 🔐 Manual Remote Programming

1. Ensure key removed and all doors closed.
2. Within 10 seconds, open driver’s door and switch ignition ON.
3. Within 10 seconds, switch ignition OFF and remove key.
4. Within 20 seconds, press and release the driver’s door contact switch 3 times.
5. Within 10 seconds, switch ignition ON, then remove key.
   • Doors will lock then unlock.
6. Within 20 seconds, press UNLOCK on the remote.
7. Doors will lock and unlock once to confirm.
8. Repeat for additional remotes.
9. Test operation.

2005–2011 🔐 Manual Remote Programming (Primary Method)

1. Sit in the driver’s seat, close all doors, ensure doors are unlocked.
2. Insert key (or emergency blade) into ignition.
3. Press LOCK then UNLOCK on the driver’s door switch 3 times.
4. Press the door lock switch to LOCK.
5. Remove and re-insert the key 4 times.
6. Turn key ON and start the engine for 3 full seconds.
7. Turn ignition OFF.
   • Doors will unlock and a buzzer may sound.
8. Press any button on the remote to be programmed.
   • Doors will lock then unlock.
9. Repeat Step 8 for additional remotes.
10. Turn ignition ON then OFF to exit programming mode.

Alternative Method (If Primary Fails)

1. Remove key and close all doors.
2. Open driver’s door.
3. Insert key, turn ON, then OFF and remove within 10 seconds.
4. Within 20 seconds, close and open driver’s door 3 times.
5. Insert key, turn ON, then OFF and remove within 10 seconds.
6. Doors will lock and unlock to confirm programming mode.
7. Press UNLOCK on remote.
8. Doors will cycle to confirm programming.
9. Repeat for additional remotes.
10. Exit vehicle and test remotes.
