🔑 Manual Remote Programming Procedure

This step-by-step guide explains how to manually program remote locking functions for Toyota Yaris models from 2005 to 2011.

⚠️ Important:
This procedure programs remote lock/unlock only.
It does NOT program the immobiliser transponder chip. If your Yaris will not start with a new key, diagnostic programming is required.

🔐 Remote Programming Procedure (Manual Method)

This procedure is used to program remote functions.

1. Make sure the driver’s door is open and unlocked and the key is out of the ignition.
2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition TWICE within 5 seconds.
3. Close and open the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds.
4. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it ONCE.
5. Close and open the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds.
6. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it on).
7. Close the driver’s door.
8. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON:
   • 1 time = ➕ ADD (add a new remote without erasing existing)
   • 2 times = 🔄 REWRITE (erase all remotes and add new ones)
   • 3 times = 🔍 CONFIRMATION (check how many remotes are programmed)
9. Remove the key from the ignition.

🔒 The door locks will now cycle LOCK → UNLOCK a number of times corresponding to the selected mode.

Programming the Remote

For ADD or REWRITE modes, within 20 seconds of door lock confirmation:

A. Press LOCK and UNLOCK together for 1–1.5 seconds, then release.
B. Within 3 seconds, press the LOCK button for more than 1 second, then release.
C. ✅ Success: Locks cycle once
❌ Failure: Locks cycle twice (repeat the procedure from the start)
D. Repeat for any additional remotes.

10. Open the driver’s door to complete the procedure.

⚠️ Common Reasons Programming Fails

Even when the steps are followed correctly, programming may fail due to:

• Incorrect remote frequency or part number
• Low vehicle battery voltage
• Aftermarket alarm or immobiliser interference
• Faulty door or ignition switches

If the vehicle never enters programming mode, diagnostic equipment will be required.
