Remote Programming Procedure for Older VAG Vehicles

Note: This guide is specifically for older VAG vehicles, typically from the years 1995-2000.

Manual Remote Programming Procedure

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Ignition:

    • Insert the non-remote key (Master Key) into the ignition lock.
    • Switch on the ignition without starting the engine.
  2. Lock the Vehicle:

    • Using another key (valet or new key/remote), manually lock the vehicle from the outside.
  3. Program the Remote:

    • Within 30 seconds after locking, press the new remote's Lock or Unlock button once.
    • Wait at least one second.
    • Press either button ONE TIME again. You might hear the horn sound, or it might not.
  4. Unlock and Finish:

    • Manually unlock the door.
    • Turn off the ignition (this step is crucial!) and remove the Master Key from the ignition.
  5. Test the Remote:

    • The programming for the new remote should now be complete. Check all buttons to ensure they function correctly.

Additional Notes:

  • If you have more than one remote to program, repeat steps 1 through 5, starting from turning the ignition off at step 5.
  • You can program up to 4 remotes per car using this method.

For Later Models:

Remotes for later model vehicles can be programmed through a diagnostic procedure, which NEED CAR KEYS can provide VW mobile key programming service.

By following these steps, you can manually program remotes for your older VAG vehicle, ensuring they function as intended.
